Mini Phalaenopsis Hybrids

I picked these up today in clearance for the 'after Valentine's Day' sale stuff. Neither of these plants have ID's but I'll contact the grower to try and get their names sorted out. The first one looks kind of like a mini Schilleriana all the way down to the lovely darker mottled leaves!

And a very deep red I photographed in diffused outdoor light that looks more maroon-purple indoors. I'll try to get some photos of it later inside to show how the color becomes more blued, later.

These measure about 7 inches tall, not including their tiny ceramic pots. Flowers measure about 1 inch wide each. I love these minis and have other varieties as well.

Love them. I have schilleriana blooming right now and indeed your top plant seems to be a miniature of my schilly!

Thanks. I really want a yellow one or one with spots but they were sold out. I'm patient. I'll find them later.

I used to have a lovely schilleriana and I loved it but that was 20 years ago or more. I do remember it getting rather large on me with long strappy leaves. So a 7 inch tall version is rather nice! Now if they can nail down the mottling pattern on the leaves a bit more clearly, it would be just about perfect!

I am a big fan of species though in their own right. I will almost certainly have a real schilleriana again some day.

I seem to have a difficult time being successful with schilly. The one I have now I've only had less than a year. I've a lot more experience than 7-8 yrs ago, so hopefully I'll have more success with this plant.
