Contemporary hickory floors

Reinstalled character hickory floors in our mountain cabin. What stain should we use to make them contemporary? Our kitchen cabinets are a warm beige/grey with nickel. Should we stain them dark or light? what colors do you recommend to avoid a country look but have a clean modern twist

    I know this is an older post, but wanted to inquire on your flooring. Is the picture above of your actual floor? If so, I would be inclined to say leave it as is with no stain. I think it is beautiful natural. With that said, could you provide me more details on your choice of flooring, width/supplier/more pictures/cost? Much appreciate.
