Here is one of her own photos. Hopefully she won't mind my posting it here. She offers these now and then to the Sinningia sales page on Facebook, which is how I got mine from her. They were very reasonably priced at I think $10 each? Something like that, plus shipping. So I took the two she had left at that time. I am going to self one of mine to see what I get, and maybe cross the other with an orange. Purple is dominant though so we'll see. Should be fun and educational in any event.

Sometimes she also lists these on Ebay so you can keep an eye out. I believe last summer was her first offering of this hybrid. I am definitely banking pollen on this one!

For a new hybrid, yes, that's probably reasonable. I have older varieties accquired from David Harris in Springfield, Mo. I love them..but these patterns are fantastic. Do you know her ebay handle?

For a new hybrid and unusual pattern - it is very inexpensive. Selfing - sometimes it just brings a washed down version of an original...

I do not know her Ebay handle, no. But you can hop onto Facebook and message her, or keep an eye on Ebay as she'll likely be listing soon now things are starting to warm up. If you Google up the name you may well bring up her past auction and see her user name there. It's too new a hybrid for anyone else to have been likely to sell them yet.

Yes, I'm aware that selfing often produces mostly duds. But sometimes you get some nice surprising results. It's not like I haven't ever done any crosses before. ;)

Yesterday I attempted crossing Jacob with Ozark Jumbo Sundae, and to self it so we'll see how that goes. My local AVSA and Gesneriad Society people will be more than happy to eat up extra plants I need to get rid of later and if not, there's always the compost pile.

Meanwhile I'm eagerly awaiting sinningia Lisa (a very nice full double) to bloom to attempt crossing it with some of my oranges like Orange Zinger or Ozark Coral Freckles. A double orange or coral-peach would be something different I haven't seen yet, if I could achieve it. Might take a few generations though.

Are there online sources for micro mini sinn seeds or seedpods?

Yes, Jane. Ebay regularly has them in several forms. I originally got two different seed pods for something like $7 postage paid. Prices and varieties vary. Just be careful of ... hmm, how shall I say this? Group assortment packages from sellers in China. They probably won't even be gesneriad seeds. So many scammers out there but if you order from a US or Canadian grower, or someone you can cross check outside of Ebay you will probably be fine.

I have to hop on David's bandwagon (originator ot the Ozark series Patty referred to) and say you might look at davesviolets.com. He's a "local" and I've known him for at least ten years.

His prices are reasonable and I've had very good luck with his plants. I have a half dozen mini-sins in the kitchen window right now, bought them about eighteen months ago, haven't lost a one.
