To re root or not?

Not sure why my original post didn't show up, but I'll try again....I had concerns about one of my obovatas loosing half grown leaves so I checked the roots, all good. (no idea why it is loosing them?) While I was messing about with plants I decided to pot two of my variegated kerrii's together to see if it helped them grow better. One of the plants has done poorly, and only put out one small leaf. To my surprise I found it's roots were next to dead! After cutting off all the dead ones I found a few live ones, but not many.

So question is, replant and hope it grows more roots or cut it and start re rooting it as a cutting? Keeping in mind it only has one small leaf, don't know if that helps.
