The rug is too traditional of a print for that modern furniture, and that red color is way too much and matches nothing. You would be better off with a subtle colored geometric print that speaks to the colors in your couches. You need to add pillows to those couches. You need to upgrade the coffee table. You need to remove that hanging plant in the corner and the picture below it and all of the crap on the window sill. You need to remove that chair in the corner, and if you're going to have a chair get a more substantial one that goes with your couches and pull it into the center of the room to complete the seating area arrangement.

cute room. that 'boring' rug is too small! you need one the other size but with more pizzazz. how about an overdyed rug? In a blue? would look great w/your floors and decor.

I'd try a boho style larger rug
