I would tend to agree, my eye goes for the lighter colored flowers and foliage.

Wow I didn't notice them - you've got good eyeballs Rosie! I figured since African violets like an airy soil mix and to not be overly wet that I would try that to see if it would be of any benefit. Seems to work well but I haven't done any comparisons much. I guess I Do it so they don't get waterlogged. Just another experiment. Hope I don't lead anyone astray. Ken

Thanks Ken. I guess I figure if there are drainage holes in the bottom, that would be sufficient. See, my violets always dried out too fast so I went to wick watering. Now I just have to look at the "cup" and see water levels. For me, extra holes in the sides of the cups again, would make them dry out too fast. But that is for me, my air in the house, humidity etc. I am certainly NOT criticizing how anone else raises theirs.

AND I was wondering if I was really seeing holes or not. Tomorrow I go for my eye exam. It has been 4 years since I got my glasses and I wear tri focals,,,so you can understand my question !!!! Things ARE a little fuzzy right now ! lol But hey, if it works for you then go with it !!!! Rosie
