I know that they don't recommend using ridge vents with power vents. That may be why the other guy didn't mention it. Did the one proposing the ridge vent talk about removing your attic fans?

No, the attic fans have electric motors but do not have turbine tops, just a static cover. The article was i teresting but didnt address hot climate issues or hip roofs. I have read tons of articles and most are weasely when it comes to hip roofs and other variables and dont commit too much.

Look more closely at the picture at the power vent. It does not have a turbine top. If you have a hip roof then you need to ensure you have enough soffit vents and that they're not covered with attic insulation for adequate ventilation.

We do have soffit vents all around. I could see light with my head in the attic. I do question if a 40 foot ridge vent is sufficient. That is all the ridge we have on a our hip roof.
