Contstant bloomers?

I have Murraya paniculata, Jasminum sambac, Ylang Ylang, Plumeria and Tuberose.

I love constant bloomers. Can anyone recommend any others? I am looking at the various Tabernaemontana plants. I also had a sniff of the Magnolia x alba and Magnolia champaca. I did not find either of these strong enough for my liking although perhaps the smell becomes better at night?

I live in the tropics so winter is not an issue. Thanks all!

All the cultivars of jasminum sambac will be a good choice. If you don't have jasmine grand duke supreme go for it. You won't be disappointed. Chinese perfume plant, rangoon creeper, jasmine grandiflorum, jasmine grandiflorum french perfume, clerodendrum phillipinum (cashmere bouquet), brunfelsias are also good contenders.

I have an Arabian Tea Jasmine which is a night bloomer. Has been blooming all year for me. Geraniums bloom constantly too and are so easy to care for... the smell is very faint but I like it too.

Thank you Michael Spokane. I am picking up a Tabernaemontana cerifera next week. I have walked passed a house with the africana version...it smells divine. I may just ask them where they got theirs! As for Aglaia odorata, someone is supposed to be delivering it to me. I read that it isn't particularly strong smelling somewhere but I am happy to hear this from you!

Jasminegal - is the rangoon creeper stronger at night? I have walked past some during the day but they didn't have a very strong smell.

What is the difference between jasmine grandiflorum and jasmine jasmine grandiflorum french perfume?

CraftyJane - will look at geraniums - I never really thought about them strangely. Thank you.

I have arabian tea jasmine but it stopped blooming for months. I am very sad. I put in slow release fertiliser. It still looks very healthy but just no blooms.

Mel rangoon creeper is one of those plants where you have to put your nose near the blooms especially if the plant is blooming sporadically. If the whole plant is in bloom then whether night or day the fragrance is amazing. The fragrance is especially great when the blooms are white since they have just bloomed.

Jasminum grandiflorum is a single layer cultivar

Jasminum grandiflorum french perfume is a double layer cultivar. Don't have a close up of the flower.

Both these plants are cultivars of jasminum officianale and flower pretty much the whole summer and are night bloomers.

Arabian tea jasmine ( assuming the ones you are talking is the sambac variety) are good bloomers if you provide them with lot of sunshine and lot of warmth. They bloom on new growth so what you can do is take out all the old leaves from the stems so that new leaves start forming with buds.

Another thing with Jasminum grandiflorum is the single's a more vigorous grower and a shy bloomer as a small plant and tends to drop its flowers cleanly; the double will bloom more reliably as a smaller plant but tends to cling to its fading flowers. The fragrance has a similarity to Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) and butterfly ginger (Hedychium coronarium).

The Tabernaemontana africana , in its various names, can be hard to find. I was stunned to find it once in gallon cans, at a Lowe's in Kailua Kona for $8 each. (I've seen it online for $75). I bought two, washed the soil off the roots so they could clear ag inspection, then donated them to my local community college horticulture program. They've had issues with nutrient deficiencies, which I also see typically when I encounter the plant in Hawai'i. Maybe it's a pH thing...? All this said, propagation is EASY by cuttings. Without disclosing too much, ask your neighbors if you can take some cuttings! Go for blind terminal shoots (shoots that haven't/aren't budding) rather than lateral shoots and use a good rooting hormone, a coarse peat/pumice or perlite medium, and bottom heat.

Thanks jasminegal I will give Rangoon a try then.

So for my sambac do I take off old leaves from anywhere on the stem? I may have been over pruning (as this seemed to work in the past). I also transferred it to a bigger pot. Does it like to be slightly root bound in order to bloom?

Thanks michaelspokane. A friend of mine did bring me Tabernaemontana three cuttings from overseas and they rotted. I am going to try and propagate the Tabernaemontana cerifera I am going to get off someone and follow your tips. Nobody I asked before had any idea how to propagate this!

No Mel. Jasmines are not that particular to be root bound for blooming. Maybe you are over pruning it. You can prune the plant to just maintain the shape but my guess is even the new growth is going away when you are pruning it. My plants like mysore mulli and moo which are ever bloomers even indoors bud up with new growth. I am providing you a link below of a video created by a gw member radhavalli on how to take out the old leaves. Hope it helps and you get plenty of blooms.
