When we had our Lazy Boy furniture delivered after moving into our house, the large reclining sofa did not fit through the door the regular way. I watched the men maneuver the sofa around and just right so that it would fit through the door. As long as your sofa has lots of padding and you can get someone that knows what they are doing, you should be able to get your sofa through the door. The Lazy Boy deliverers knew what to do.

HOW LONG IS THE SOFA ??!! Is there room outside to back up straight? and stand it up? . Meaning if the ARMS are not 37 inches high, and are more like 24"/26/28 yes you may get it through the door, in an upright ( angled back to clear) position. All cushions removed, one sofa arm to the floor, jiggle back, and snug the INSIDE back of the sofa to a doorway casing. Remove the door from its pins / hinges. I said maybe......much depends length of sofa, and ARM height. And prayer.: )

Note: 42/44 inch depth sofas, very routinely go through 36 inch doorways.

I don't think we can answer this question, however we recently had a situation where our couch wouldn't fit down the hallway into our media room. We hired a service to come and essentially saw the couch into pieces and re-assemble it in the correct room. I was skeptical but it worked out great and you can't even tell anything was done! It was about $400 but that's here in NYC, I'm sure it's cheaper virtually anywhere else. Might be worth looking into!

Are the legs removable? Often the legs unscrew for a couple more inches of space. In past experiences, we have had to remove the door stop from the casing, and remove a light fixture from the top of a stairway.

Usually, the doorway itself isn't the problem. It is the other details of the space that will nix the move like a turn into a hallway, or a door opening onto a corner space. A straight doorway with no obstructions on either side can usually be twisted up, down and around to get through the door.

Where is the photo of the sofa???? Or a link? You are buying it SOMEWHERE so ask them to measure the arm height. That is your critical measurement. Needs to be less than the 32 inch doorway.
