Sounds like a fun and worthy project. I wish you success in sprouting those seeds and especially, handling the challenge of deciding which is a weed and which isn't. I hope we'll get to see photos.

Grass! There's many more of them, sparse and straggly, but they are sprouting. The jute seems to be working to keep them from blowing away.

And some of the others, like Hairy grama and purple love grass are sprouting in their soil blocks. I have places I want to ensure that certain species show up, so they will be set out individually.

If I fail to get sprouting this time, I will try the jute method. It'll be my third sowing of no mow fescue native mix in an area of ckay soil. This time I covered the seed wirh a light dusting of container mix hoping to get it to sprout. Just in case, where did you get your jute?

They charge by the yard, but you get a price break for larger orders. 75 yards per roll, and 4 ft by 225 feet.

It does keep them from blowing around and being eaten by birds. HOWEVER, if you plan to mow the lawn you might do better with the Curlex germination blanket because it falls apart faster. (30-60 days versus 2 years).
