I've been meaning to take these pictures for a while now, so now ; after many months of anticipation, Rick's swazicums -

(This next one is kinda scrawny. I cant seem to force it to branch; so I put some "Keiki Paste" on the 2 nodes above the first cut.)

(However, when I move the soil away from the base; it's got quite the bulb going on.)

It is a great feeling, isn't it. To be growing and having these seeds from all parts of the world and especially from where they grow natively. Most are not Wild Collected, but may have been sometime ago.

You know Rob which surprised me with my first Swazicum seedlings. When I took hold of a seedling by it's stem. How rigid and anchored it was in it's 2 1/4" pot, as opposed to most of the obesum seedlings. Remembered thinking "Wow is that ever solid in it's pot."

I have to say. You are growing some tremendous plants there!

They are so nice, Rob. Love their bases and the nice fuzzy leaves. You have grown some very nice plants. All the way from South Africa.

Yes; they do have those fuzzy leaves, and I like that. You cant really tell much from the pics, but the caudexes these things have; are gonna be huge.

Here's a pic of the caudex in the 3rd photo down, when I transplanted it on 9/1/2016.

It's going to be a good one!

It is pretty amazing to think about. I'm growing plants from seeds that were gathered & handled by people from places all over the world.

Wow, they sure look good, I had to Google Swazicum as I never heard much about them. I wonder if anyone in Australia is growing this beautiful flowers.

I believe that Cheryl from Bluewater has them. She is wonderful and has been such a wonderful help to me over the years. The whole Australian group (not all from Australia) are amazing and so knowledgeable. Sandy may have them, you would have to contact her. Sandysadeniums can be found if you google it.

Those are growing so nice Rob so cool to see how the roots have fattened up since the photo of the bare root seedling.

That was the first large Adenium I bought, and it was dormant when I got it. It was also a NOID w/ no tag, but an obvious graft.

Within a month it started leafing out, and my Mom and I were stunned at how luxuriously velvety soft the leaves were.

Me; being new to Adeniums, had no idea what to make of this, so it was Rick who helped decipher that it was probably a Swazicum graft. Now that I've grown many of these, they all have a fuzzy texture, and a distinct leaf shape.

A couple weeks later...

(I have two other cultivars w/ super soft leaves. "Emerald Crown" bottom only, and the "S1+Chada Petch" top & bottom.)
