Hi Stephane, I wouldn't worry too much about the old leaves, they will fall off in their own time. You could gently take them off if that suits you better. Maybe wait until they grow a few more new leaves first.

It is possible, that those old leaves show signs of spider mites, I can't tell from the photos. Usually the leaves have a 'sand blasted' appearance if attacked by spider mites. I would check to make sure there are none there & maybe spray with an appropriate spider mite spray just to be sure. Usually with spider mites most leaves will yellow suddenly, sometimes overnight & all drop off, so it may not be a problem. Sorry, I can't advise as to what brand to use as I am from Australia. Hopefully someone from your country can advise on what to use.

Stephane, As Rachel has mentioned the old leaves do look to of had/have Spider mite tissue damage.

Would be best to watch and treat if needed. There are many in the US that use a product put out by Bayer. Make sure to apply out of direct sunlight. Leaves could burn.

Hello Rachel and Rick,

You guys were right. I have a small infestation of spider mites. I won't bother with neem oil this time. It works but it takes a while before you completely get rid of them. This time, I'm just going with a store bought product. I ordered the bayer that you mentioned. I read the reviews and they were great. Those mites are such a pain in the butt.

Sunburn can also cause little pale dotting but yes, they do seem to be especially prone to spider mites! I lost some flower buds on my Star of Top to those nasty little sneakers this past week and I'm very annoyed.
