That's a shame Vladimir, I got one on Wednesday from FW and while it is quite the dinky thing the leaves seem to look alright, I'll take a closer look when I get home and make sure I didn't miss anything in my initial inspection. It is budding/blooming and I was worried it was partly due to the stress of shipping, its still too cold to go outside so its under my lights in the garage, I wanted to let it recover a bit but I am hoping to re-pot soon. I assume it won't do well in the small/narrow container it was shipped in and have a 1 gal or 3 gal option for it when its ready. I hope they get back to you soon and can swap out your tree for a healthier one.

That is terrible! I hope you call them and make them send you another! I feel like this the 3rd thing I have seen lately about people being disappointed with 4 winds. I have been preparing to get a satsuma or something to grow for my kids but now I'm worried that I'll get a bad tree too!

Amanda, this is my first order with FW and I got a Entry NZL and Premium Calamondin, I am overall happy with my trees though the are much smaller than I was expecting. My Meyer came from OSH and my Bearss from HD and they we significantly larger but that is to be expected from local sources vs mail order. I only wish I could find more local places to get trees that are not Meyer lemons. I plan on checking out One Green World since they are based in the Portland area and I could drive out there instead of paying shipping but they don't have a retail space for you to peruse and pick out your trees they only offer onsite pickup. I think its a crap-shoot about getting trees from online since your dealing with living things but I would hope their QC is better so that people don't end up with less than ideal trees. Hopefully this was a rare miss and they will make it right. or like Molewacker said its nbd and it will sort itself out.

Just talked with Ed at Four Winds who told me that their larger trees are grown outdoors and are showing the same symptoms as mine and that they are due to the cold and rainy weather they have been having. He said my tree will be all right.

In your care, I have NO doubt that it will recover just fine Vladimir...Nice warm temps in your greenhouse and your green thumb will make it look entirely different in a month or so..)

Sorry Vladimir. This summer I got a sudachi from them that was quite pathetic and had very light leaves. It has since almost completely defoliated. However, about a month ago, it came back with a vengeance and now looks great - new leaves and buds everywhere. I suspect yours will be just fine after a little TLC from you.

Speaking of coming back, remember the two ponderosas that I separated and that one of them looked recently like it was about to die? Well, I just noticed it is putting out some new growth! That poor guy has been struggling for a year now.

That's great to hear Vladimir! I know the feeling and it is a good one to see a tree recovering like that ;-). Let us know how that new tree does. Be careful in that snowstorm you guys have coming!

As with any condition, the older leaves only show you how the tree WAS; maybe spider mites?? The new leaves will show the condition of the tree NOW.

It is a whole lot of pretty tag for a microscopic amount of information. Root Stock? Sandy soil? Heavy clay loom? Resistant to what? Prone to what? I don't like buying fruit trees because I was always at the mercy of shady grafters looking for the easiest buck.

Pip The New Zealand lemonade tree yo gave me is doing well. There is physically not enough room in our house for even one citrus tree and all of them will go in ground permanently this spring. My greenhouse setup can go all winter without heat as long as the temps stay above 0 F. I used low-E double glass sealed window and top coated it with clear bubble wrap. It holds heat much better on clear nights and doesn't cook the plants on surprise 70 F sunny days. It appears to be the way to go in GH's
