I think he took the wrong turn or got off the wrong stop. LOL

But since we're on the subject I have been to France quite a few times, most important tip is to make sure you have a bathroom in your Hotel room. Many Hotels still have common bathrooms in the hallways you have to share with others.

If you go sightseeing most museums like Louvre, etc you can visit on your own, if you want to visit famous Palaces like Versailles or Chambord which is only 1-2hr from Paris, find private tour guides... It will cost a little more but it will worth every penny and you will see much more and you will have a much better time and if you pay a little over the top these guys will stick with you the entire trip you there and take you anywhere you wanna go. Another advantage doing that, they will get you in and out to any place using back doors and you avoid standing in line to get into the place you want to see and you don't have to stand in line to use the bathroom, because some places you will stand in line for hours when tour buses come from all over the place.

Another few advantages doing that, private tours are locals and they know everyone and take care of them on the side... They will get you in and out to any place using back doors and you avoid standing in line to get into the place you want to see and you don't have to stand in line to use the bathrooms, because some places you will stand in line for hours when tour buses come from all over the place.

They will also show you parts of the castle where general public can't go and they don't allow visitors there.

Watch out for scammers in the street who try to sell you stuff like leather designer bags and leather jackets, etc most likely they're fake and worth nothing but they have designer labels and made well... watch out for pickpockets in crowded places, so carry all the valuables,i.e cash, a copy of your passport, etc in waste pouches, keep a little cash in your empty valet, women wear your bags over the shoulder and in front of you and most importantly use common sense.

They have many popular erotic shows at night which are huge tourist attractions like Moulin Rouge which is more of a traditional French style show or Cabaret Lido which is more of a Tourist attraction but both shows are great and you will have a good time... Prior going there make sure you eat something, even that packages include wine and food and desert, but they don't give you much food but plenty of wine so @ $200 per person (now probably more) most likely you will get buzzed but you will walk out with an empty stomach :-)

On the general note, it's a beautiful city, lots of things to do, great places to party, just be aware of your surroundings, etc. A few friends just came back recently from there, they went on the business trip and things are not like they use to be so you have to be aware and be careful I guess like anyplace else today.

    Have fun and good luck.

FYI we stay in a studio apt. when we visit Paris , since Paris is a small city it is walkable but to be honest I like to out of the core and we stay in Monmarte which was the old artists enclave I love the ability to live like a Parisan. We have stayed in the same space for 15 visits and our friends also stay there and love the untourist area.

Love that area, it's way up at the top and I remember they have a beautiful Church there. I was back in France 2 years ago only this time we went to Provence also a very beautiful area the only thing I hated is you have to watch not to step in a dog poop it's all over the place and they don't pick it up. I'm glad I was there only 3 days LOL never going back there.
