Are you serious? About how much would you say the bead was? 3/16"? 1/4"?

Are you sure you are not using the clear caulk? It dries clear and sometimes make it hard to see if a spot was was missed.

I have used plenty of Dyflex 230 white recently, but it has never vanished.

Thanks, it is clear. But it also seems to shrink to an unusual degree.

Many caulks have a water/solids ratio that means a lot of shrinkage, let's say 1/2 volume. The one caulk I know of that is mostly solids is Big Stretch.

The waterier they are the easier they tool/spread, so there's that.

OP, like I mentioned, I have been using plenty of the white 230 caulk. I have been using a lot of SW 950A side by side, and both have done the job. I have not noticed the shrinkage you speak of. I pulled the TDS and did notice a huge difference in % Solids between the white and clear 230.

Big stretch is good too, but I only use it for houses where there are severe floor movement and know that the joints are dynamic. It seems you are just trying to close a gap for painting. A standard acrylic caulk should do the job.

I have never had Alex Plus caulk vanish entirely, while White Lightning shrinks pretty severely. But if you know how it will behave at the start, you can leave a bigger bead.
