Lee x nova

I am on the hunt for a gold nugget and tango this year. My local Costco is either not stocking them or I keep missing it. So what's a person to do? Stalk all nurseries! Last week, OSH promised to look into it for me. The guy didn't get around to it but told me of a new Mandarin they just got this morning, didn't even put it out yet - LeexNova! I think I saw it at Costco in previous years but was misled with the seedy description.

I wasn't really planning on anything else besides the tango and GN this year......Here is the best laid plans...

I was just in a local Home Depot tonight and saw a couple of the Lee X Nova mandarins so I looked them up. Sounds like I need to go back first thing in the morning for one to add to my citrus collection. The fruit is being sold this year under the name 'Super Nova' and their goal is to give 'Cuties' and 'Halos' a run for their money. If you call the Garden Center at San Lorenzo Lumber in Santa Cruz, they may have both the Tango and the Gold Nugget Mandarins and can hold for you if you want to take a nice drive to Santa Cruz. If they don't have them they could easily order them for you. They usually stock a very large supply of citrus trees. Here is their contact info.

I am happy for you! I wish they sold local citrus in Indiana hahaha I would have a forest of trees!

I'll talk to my nursery and see if they'll send you some GN trees if you'd like. I'm working on a drop shipment arrangement with them now but I'm sure that they will do an in state shipment to you. I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say.

I hope they found a way to make the Lee x Nova to perform better. 7 years for one good crop for the Super Novas. Yikes. Well, when there's a crop, it's an early mandarin so that would be nice.

Is anyone else growing Lee x Nova? Any fruit yet?

diggsdrt11 - I will call around. I called Armstrong in dublin last week and they are expecting a new citrus order in 2 weeks and call back. But they couldn't tell me what was on the order. It starts at $40 a plant.
