Unless something has changed in recent years (and I doubt it has) the actual licensed Supertunias are sterile and must be grown from cuttings. Supertunia seeds never have been available. When Supertunias first hit the market about 10 years ago, they were licensed to Proven Winners, and you only could get the plants at nurseries that carry the Proven Winners line. There are some people who claim they have grown Supertunias from seed and some that periodically try to sell the seed online which they claim is Supertunia seed, but the folks who bought that seed and wrote reviews got little to no germination and the plants that did grow were not Supertunias.

You could grow Wave petunias from seed, but they fizzle out in the heat here most summers just like all the other fancy, large-flowered petunias do. I love, love, love petunias but they don't like our heat, so I don't devote space to them except for the heat-loving Laura Bush petunias.

There is a variety called Firehouse at Baker Creek. They bloomed under my okra all summer. These mostly look purple, but sometimes they are darker, almost red. This was the first week of July.

Sorie, This one is not really white, but it is a lavender that sort of fades to white. It was rated pretty highly in the plant trials at the Dallas Arboretum, which caught my eye, because Dallas' heat is just as bad as ours.

It is from the variation of the Wave Petunia series that is know as Tidal Wave and this particular color is called Silver Tidal Wave. If you like it, the seeds are sold at many online retailers including Jung, Harris and Park Seed.

While neither the Wave petunias nor the Tidal Wave petunias are as heat tolerant as Laura Bush, they can hold their own fairly well in summer heat.

Have you grown the Laura Bush Formula Mix from Wildseed Farms? I get mixed pinks from it, and some of them are pink and white splotched or striped. Originally, when they only had the original violet-colored LB petunias and then introduced the pink LB petunias, when the pink ones reseeded, I got all kinds of pinks and pinkish-whites mixed together. They do not reseed as well as the violet-colored ones, but the color mix is really pretty together. Eventually, I guess they separated out the solid pinks and put the mixed ones together in the formula mix.

I don't know if you've seen the pink LB petunias either. You can see all three on the page I've linked below---the original violet, which is the one I believe you have, the pink and the formula mix.

Thanks Dawn. I've got both colors the dark and light. Guess they were in the ones I got from you. Guess I shouldn't be so picky but I'm just not a fan of pink! Never have been. I'll keep looking!

You're welcome. Good luck finding something that's in the color range you prefer. One problem with a lot of the white flowers of various kinds is that they just don't hold up well in our summer heat, so they fade fast.
