hang it up and let it dry out. you want it to callous over before you replant, without watering. we're talking several weeks. Pagan will give some most excellent advice ….

Bragu - thanks, yes it is hanging up, it makes me sad to see it like that, I hope it will recover well, I didn't expect it to be so hollow with rot inside, despite the beautiful flowers.

Hope it survives the upside down hanging treatment! It's a nice plant. I'm surprised it managed to live in that size pot, the roots were really crammed in, maybe a lack of drainage promoted the root rot issues...had it got holes in the pot I wonder?

Geenclaws - thank you, yes I am hoping it survives. Yes the small pot did have holes, I wondered if I left the plant like that, it would eventually die, so the best I could do was to give it the surgery and hope it recovers. I have its sister in flower buds, in small pot too, I have to see how her roots are, and repot. Cross fingers I dont have to do another open heart surgery :-)

Hi Agartta. I'll just post this link for added info. I think if left out to dry long enough and with enough warmth, your plant has good odds of surviving. You can also cut off a piece of the fattest branch and graft it on to another plant if only to save the material, should all else fail.

Pagan - Thankyou! I will take cuttings from it, I don't have another plant to graft it onto. It has 3 nice fat branches which could make nice cuttings.
