Thanks for the heads up on this one, Luis. Its marketing name in Europe is Diamant Rouge and the patent name is Rendia, so both those terms can be used to search for other information since it's relatively new in the US.

Pluses for me include the panicle's more rounded, less pointed shape and of course that color(!) as well as what looks like nice deep red fall leaf color. Photos show the shrub splaying out somewhat, so I will wait to consider buying this until I've seen more mature specimens to see if this tendency continues with older plants.

Diamond rouge looks tempting for me! Hey Luis, you are in my general area--would you let me know if you see everlasting series at any local nurseries? I am on a hunt for harmony and ruby.

Will do.

Also, Joy Creek Nursery has a new climbing hydrangea with cream leaf color variegation that turns green as the leaves mature:

"Thanks to Richie Stephen from the
Elisabeth C. Miller Botanic Garden in Seattle, we acquired this curious
climbing hydrangea which is characterized by cream variegation on the
juvenile foliage. As the leaves mature, most of the variegation turns
green. However, during the intense period of early growth, the foliage
is truly eye-catching and serves as an attractive backdrop to the
seasonal floral show. This has been even slower to grow than the
already slow species. Climbing hydrangeas scale trees, fences and walls
by using aerial roots. They take some time to reach flowering size.
We have grown this variegated form for five years but have not yet had
it bloom. We expect it will take several more years to do so. The
inflorescences should form 8-to-10-inch lacecaps."
