Why not just paint over the brick you have .

Unfortunately it's reclaimed brick and contains lead paint. Encapsulating even with special lead-coverage paint isn't something we're comfortable doing since the paint is flaking.

so are you removing all of those? will you putting up cement board to cover them and tile on top of that?

many tile places have glazed brick. tilebar has 'urban brick' in white, gray and black
