Likely overwatering.

Tell us how you water, how often you water and what method you're using to tell when the plant needs water.

I was watering it every Sunday, about a cup of water. But I have scaled back to every other Sunday... because of the browning of the leaves. But it has made no difference- possibly worse. :(

The first and third photos look like sunburn or cold injury. Had you recently rotated the plant, changed its position, transported it, or allowed the leaves to come in contact with a cold window?

The second picture looks like mechanical injury and the 4th picture appears to be a leaf in the process of being shed. This can occur as a function of natural senescence (aging) or any of several other factors, among them are a reduced photo load (lowered light level or duration of exposure), too much/too little water, sudden chill, root congestion, a level of mineral salts in the soil that is too high, ......

It seems doubtful that you'd be over-watering if you're using a cup of water per week and pulling back from that amount. Is it possible more than one person is watering the plant?

It really doesn't look to me like your plant is circling the drain. IOW, I don't think there is need for extreme concern for its immediate future; but, that isn't to say there aren't improvements that can be made that could increase its level of vitality. Vitality is a measure of how well your plant is hanging in the game with the hand you're dealing it; and in the end, you'll discover that a healthy root system is a prerequisite to a healthy plant. That is sunburn. It happened to my burgundy while outside this summer. the leaves look exactly like that.

Your brush is too broad, Rae Ann. Some, but not all of the damage seen in the images, was due to sunburn. The second image is due to mechanical injury (like a bruise in humans), which was caused by the leaf blade being bent to the point where if ruptured leaf veins, which cut off water supply to the damaged area (the break can clearly be seen in the image; and, the last image is of a leaf in the process of being shed, whether due to natural senescence (aging) or a cultural condition that caused an abscission layer to form at the base of the leaf where it attaches to the branch or trunk. Several conditions can cause premature shedding of leaves: over or under-watering, a decrease in light levels, nutritional deficiencies (particularly of nitrogen), cold drafts, root congestion, compacted soil, others.
