Yes, the red oak floors took the stain Duraseal Ebony. Depending on how many coats of stain are applied the darker the floor will appear. It also depends on what species of wood the stain is applied to. We suggest making a couple test samples with different stains and varying number of coats till you are satisfied with the color.

I wonder if Minxwax Jacobean would take on this color on my red oak planks.

We suggest buying a sample of the stain you like and doing a test patch in an inconspicuous area. If you don't like the color, the test patch can be sanded away.

How wide are the planks? I love this color finish beautiful work. Do you know if it is select red oak or #1 common?

It looks like Select grade to me. Remember if you plan to put a wood floor in your basement or below grade it must be Engineered. Being Engineered does not always mean prefinished.
