Under the sink refreshed.

My wood under the sink was looking 'tired' to put

it nicely. I wanted to avoid ripping out the cabinet

floor under the sink for replacement.

So, I thought about it and came up with an idea --peel

and stick tiles...The head took out the tracks for the

pull out cleaning basket and pull out garbage pail,

and I cleaned it out while he went to Home Depot.

My only requirement was to pick out light ( white)

tiles as I wanted it bright.

He came home with a white

marbleized peel and stick tile. They were 88 cents

each, we needed five. After sticking then down he

siliconed between the tiles to keep any moisture out.

It's a pleasure to see it so neat and clean.

A wonderful solution! Don't you love having all the cleaning supplies in an easy to remove tub? I use Rubbermaid dishpans under every sink in the house, multiples under some.

I did something similar when we lived in a 65-year-old (as in old and ugly!) base housing unit.

The floor of the undersink cabinet was stained, chipped, split, saggy, and showed decades of abuse - it was just plain nasty.

I scrubbed and cleaned and bleached, and ask the housing office if they could replace it. They did come out to look, but it was not water-logged, moldy, or smelly, so no replacement. It was what it was.

I scrounged and searched and finally found a nice "scrap" of exterior plywood. DH cut it to size and we laid it down as a new floor for the cabinet. I caulked the edges and seems, painted it bright yellow, and was very happy with the clean, bright look.

I wish I had known about peel-and-stick tiles then!

Caroline, it's a pull out tub hubby made for me. I'll post pics of it later.

I bought the tub at target for a few bucks, The slide pulls we had on hand.

What prompted this was the pull out kitchen trash can...the matching

cleaning pull out tub didn't fit because of the plumbing valves in the back, so

hubby put this together. I've had it for several years. It works great.

He built a wooden platform and attached it to the slides, then

screwed the plastic tub to the wood platform. Then installed it.

    The slides are full extension.

I put this here before, when we first did it -- in September of 2013.

It changed my life! My aching back loves it!

Yes, user friendly and back friendly as well!

Do it Caroline! ... It'll change your life!

No more pulling 'out and up' the basket to look for stuff!

I just took this pic ..he also recently put two big angle line brackets on the side

wall to hold the paper towels.

Funny thing, even the bottom of the bucket stays clean.

That Rubbermaid tub drawer is genius! Clearly, you are quite clever and creative. Congrats on such an organized and clean sink area. Off to clean mine now, lol!

We've used peel and stick tiles in a number of bathroom vanities, for the same reasons as the kitchen sink you have. We found some dark wood colored ones, and you have to look real hard to tell they are not part of the vanity cabinet.
