Dying Fiddle Leaf Fig

I thought my tree was dying. Almost all the leaves dropped but I refuse to let this tree go. In recent days, there have been two new sprouts at the top of the tree!! Yay! However, the rest of the tree is ugly. So sad. Will new leaf grow all over the stem or just from the top? How can I prune? I'm coming up on spring and had read this is the best time to prune. Help!!

It really needs a lot more light than you're giving it.

Right up in front of a south facing window would be preferable.

What type of soil is it in? How large is the pot? Does the pot have a drain hole? How often do you water? What do you use to tell it's time to water? How often do you fertilize? And with what?
