Leon, you know what would really help your optimism??? The Ann Arbor Violet Show on April 8th!!!!! AnneC and I will be there with bells on our shoes and hopefully money in our pockets !!!!!! Is Ann Arbor very far from Grand Rapids? It would be great to see you there !!!!! Rosie

Leon, I estimate it is over 2 hours drive for you and I think Rosie has mentioned this event to you before and you said it was too far. That's too bad; it would be nice to meet you in person, but I understand if you can't make it. It's just such a rare opportunity here in Michigan to acquire named varieties without paying for shipping! The Michigan State African Violet Society club members do a terrific job with this display and sale plus there is the added bonus of being able to tour the Matthei Botanical Gardens conservatories - such a boost to the winter weary soul!

I wanted to photo the bloomers, but there are three more budding now, so I'll wait for them all to open and then photo all at once.
Yes, I wish I could to with you to the show, but now, at my age, travelling's kinda hard. And also, I had an accident recently, injured my hand, and that makes driving even tougher. I'm not complaining...just describing.

You ask if I'm looking for anything specific.....well, I've been trying to find a standard yellow for a long, long time. I've gotten a couple that say yellow but bloom white.

Other than that, I'm happy with what I've got. Thanks for your comments . Leon-

Leon, we had snow last week. Did you also get snow last week - the week of April 3/17?

We had a bit of snow but it didn't stick and then we had really warm temps and a big thunderstorm.

We've been having enough sunshine for lots of the AV's to start blooming now.

In Central PA, we had over 2 feet of snow in that storm.

Hi All, we had snow on the grass. There was none on the sidewalks or pavement. It melted by the end of the week.

The AVs, however, seem to enjoy the sunshine and many are responding to the longer day.
