Pieces I used starting from bottom:

¾’ rebar for stakes into ground and bottom of legs.

Size 13 running shoes, find yourself a tall basketball
player and beg him for old pair.

Upper leg/thighs are the sockets from shovels.

Body is an empty helium tank like you can get for blowing
up balloons. There is no deposit on them.

Wings are 12” cotton gin blades, a 12’ circular saw blade
would be a good substitute.

Neck is a truck exhaust pipe, dumpster dive a muffler
shop or take picture and they could bend one for you.

Head is an old used 4” cup wire wheel.

Beak is made from exhaust pipe.

Eyes are links from a chain. Pupils are metal punch outs.

Any small circular piece would work.

Top knot and tail were just scrap sheet metal.

Notes:

I have no idea of your skill levels or tools on hand so I’ll
throw these tips out to you. Please except them in the spirit they are
intended.

Do a Google image search of the cartoon Roadrunner for
the tail and top knot. Get those right and he screams “The Roadrunner”. Get
them wrong and it will be just a weird bird.

I used sheet metal I had on hand for tail and it wasn’t
strong enough. A 70 mph. storm gust bent it over 90 degrees. I had to fabricate
some small angles to strengthen bottom and I slit brake tubing and welded it to
the front edge to remove any flexing. That worked for me, but then again I
haven’t had any 70 mph. winds since then.

Go with heaviest sheet metal you can find and reinforce
bottom of tail to body.

Do not use galvanized sheet metal.

Helium tanks are paper thin and a pain to arc weld. Brazing
is helpful. A mig welder would probably work too. I don’t have any experience
on them.

My lawyer wants me tell you that using a propane tank can
cause serious damage to humans and property and generally mess up your day.

He also wanted me to remind you mugging someone to get their
size 13 running shoes is illegal and generally frowned upon in most courts.

Paint is important if you want it to be “The Roadrunner”.
I think I used a Royal Blue for wings and top knot and mixed my own color for
light

blue body. Beak is John Deere Yellow.
