As a general rule cherry trees don't need much pruning when compared to other fruits like apple and peach. The tree looks pretty good although I'd cut that central leader down as much for aesthetics as anything. If you want a really large tree you could cut it back a bit and force more scaffolding but most people prefer trees 8' and under.

ok, thanks. i think 8' is about what i would want too. about how far down should i cut the main leader

There are some nice scaffold branches so you could actually take the leader off right down above the branch on the right (second picture). That'll produce a nice spreading tree.

you could also prune it just above the upward shoot on the left side (second picture), that'll produce a second scaffolding whirl, will end up taller than 8' though. But you could always do more detail work in the future.
