OT: Howdy!

Have been busy trying to set up the new house. The kitchen floors are never clean.. product of the 3 dogs, 3 kids and life in the country.

Since the kitchen is clean now.. time to bake!

Cookies in the oven, about to start on the NY Style cheesecake.

btw: Lots of folks said "barrier island".. I totally get it.. but MAN have we enjoyed it. Yea, there are times you go "ung.. forgot to get 'x'.." but having tons of folks standing around it drinking wine and eating while we cook, totally worth it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE The Culinarian 48" stove!!

Trevor was awesome.. got me taken care of.. it cooks like a dream AND the "fan thing".. bah.. does not bother me in the slightest.

We added all the knobs etc ourselves.

OH! Go to http://www.crock-pot.com .. We have a 13yr old crock pot. The handle on the lid just fell off.. but 13 years.. ? right. I went online to find a new lid and they go, "how about we send you out a free crock pot? I told them they did not have to, but they did anyway.

SO.. I took my old lid and had a spare kitchen knob.. now I have THREE crock pots ;) (we had another small one too).

I have been mostly down from foot / ankle surgery in September, so every moment I get to move or do anything has been spent on the house. Now, I am finally getting to relax a little.. before the NEXT phase ;)

I could. The house stays dirty. I was waiting till after the next stage, which should be about a month or two. We are adding the barn, fence, and deck. Once the deck goes in, a lot of the dirt should stop.

It took a lot to get here and we did some stuff ourselves vs fighting with the person that made mistakes. Fortunately, the folks that built the house really did take care of us and were "johnny on the spot" to make sure we were taken care of and happy.

We made allowances on a few things, it helped us to get the next phase early. My mentality was, "I do not care if you fix it...but you have to change our thinking whenever we see it".. so, now.. or when the deck goes in, we will see it and go, "yea.. but look what we got for that..."

Funny thing was, the mess up was really not a huge deal and was in our favor, really.

The took 6" off the house. We kept trying to prove it to them, but it did not become obvious where it went till they got the last stages and found our "standard" stairs we actually custom, because they were framed up 6" too wide.. lol

Here is a picture of them:

Let me see what pictures I have. The house is still not "put together yet..we have wall speakers to install, etc.. but I am walking now (had surgery in September) so it is going faster AND we had a major amount of help from her parents.. great people.

I'll do a reveal in an hour or so, when the cheesecake gets turned off. Can't show ya that till tomorrow ;)

Yea, sorry guys.. I kinda had the wind taken out of my sails for a reveal. We had a lot of issues with the cabinets etc going in, a lot of discussions with the builder. Let me say, I love them to death. They had a bad GC, but the company did everything they could to make us happy and, in the end, we still had to make allowances. The kitchen is not perfect. I know some doors do not line up right, there are things that even I call amateur, but we pick and choose what is important and, in the end.. what was important to us was, a strong set of bones.

We were planning to buy a used house. The only thing that got us to build this house was the people that ran the company were just flat out great people and the house was (or would/could be) so much more of what we wanted than if we had purchased a used home.

Me, I love the 100+ yr old houses.. lol.. but, could not afford that in the area we live. Either they were wwwaaayyyy too much money or the neighborhood would not support us taking out a loan to get them fixed up.

So, we found a way to meet that in the middle, so to speak. The problem is, the outside is a lot of dirt and weeds atm.. lol.

We are working on getting a barn / workshop done, and then a 990ft fence, and then the base of a deck, at least. We will see how much of that we can get done.

Now that I am walking, as long as I can get them to do the posts in the ground, I will have what I need to do the joists etc easily.

Anyway, putting together a "reveal" heh.. not much more than what I posted going along as we were having problems, but, it deserves a reveal anyway, right?;)

I'll put that together and post tonight or tomorrow.

    Thanks!:)

It looks beautiful and like a great place to work. Love the window. My new kitchen is not perfect either, but I still love it. You really do forget about the imperfections pretty quickly.

I try to think of the outside stuff that ends up inside as simply 'being one with nature'. Our floors and nature are almost always inseparable.

What Lisa said. Your kitchen is warm and just lovely!
