Thanks Marcy and Lydia! I'm stoked! It sounds easy enough, considering I've started nepenthes from seed (fairly difficult to provide their conditions, similar to picky hoya). Best not to keep my expectations at 100%... hahaha

I do have a question about the photoperiod. I have my pygmy sundew on a 15hr photoperiod. Is it okay if I use the same length of time for the cuttings? (using a single timer for lights if I can)

I have mine on a 15 hour photoperiod. Should be fine!

Meredithii can be a pain in the rear to root. I'd use bottom heat and the baggie/rubbermaid method.

The rest are pretty easy to root.

OKay, good to know! I keep it pretty much that long year round.

And good to know to bag the meredithii! I just hope the mat works well. It's currently got my tray at 78F at night, but there's water in the tray. I don't have a thermostat though, so gotta really monitor it tomorrow. Should I let the mat run all the time? Or just mainly at night when the temps lower?

Keep them on 24/7.

The mat has a small built in thermometer that acts as safety shut off. It is made to give you approximately 10-15 degrees above the ambient room temp.

In large rooms that are always cool, heat mats will burn themselves out trying to heat the area. They aren't designed for that, so, if your plant room is always really cool, buy a thermostat OR build a "microclimate" to confine the area around the mat, so that it only needs to respond to a small area, vs. a whole room.

I use clear rubbermaid tubs with clear lids, to create my microclimate.

Pick a tub the mat will fit in. Drill (or melt) a hole in the bottom of one of the sides, big enough to accomodate the plug. Place heat mat in, thread plug out through hole, add plants. Doubles as a humidity tent.

That's an awesome idea! But I can't use a tub due to space issues. I'm rooting the cuttings in my closet...

Also, my room temps are normally around mid 60s to mid 70s. So I think the mat should be okay. At least until the cuttings have are nice mass of roots.
