Well, I’m excited! Following suggestions on these forums and
a fruit growing FB page I frequent, I stored my potted Chicago Hardy in the
coolest, darkest spot on the basement after it lost its leaves last fall.

This was bought last spring boxed, as a tiny stick in a big
bag (actually a pair of tiny sticks but one didn’t make it early on) but grew
well in its pot. Basically one stick with a tuft of leafs on the tip, and one
side branch.

I went down to check on it just now, and the tips have
leafed out. So I assume it’s time to bring it up to a sunny spot on the house.
I have no plans to plant it in the ground.

Should I be nipping the tips to induce leafing out on the
sides? Thanks.
