Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on this citrus forum for about 5 months and have enjoyed the photos and reading the informative posts. I've planted several four winds citrus trees to include a bearrs lime, satsuma owari, Washington navel, and improved Meyer lemon. My zone is 9 and my soil is almost completely sand.

In an attempt to grow organic/ increase the soil microbes; I used dr. Earths citrus fertilizer, some bunny poop and pee in the watering trough (from my potty trained bunny), spent coffee grounds, and direct composting into the ground near my trees.

My problem is, I feel like my trees aren't green enough. There are some trees that have a few leaves which look yellow. I really haven't had to water much because of the rain we are receiving, but I did try 1 tsp of vinegar in a gallon of water to see if it made a difference in the color and didn't notice anything significant. I'm attaching a photo of my lime and satsuma tree. I fertilized at the end of January and again this week with no improvement in color. I felt like fertilizing again was too soon, but the tree appeared to be lacking nitrogen to me.

I also switched to citrus tone fertilizer. Lots of blooms on the lime. I was trying to remove the marble sized fruits, but it just kept blooming, so I've stopped removing the fruits.

Pretty much, I'm obsessing over these little gems. Who knew I'd love growing citrus so much. They've been in the ground since October. Do you fertilize if your trees are symptomatic of nitrogen deficiency even if it's seems a little soon to fertilize again? I realize organic fertilizer isn't as potent. Was it time to fertilize again?

What is your opinion? Nitrogen deficiency? Too much water stripping the soil of nutrients? Helicopter citrus parent?

I'd appreciate anyone's expertise. I'm not sure if I should even worry about the foliage color because everything is blooming profusely.Forgive the ugly weeds in the photos. Fortunately or unfortunately, my old house had no landscaping when we bought it last year, so I'm slowly figuring out what I want to plant, so most of the yard is doing what it wants.
