Ace151, I like that West Elm chandy but I'd get your tables and then re-evaluate. One thing I like about your room is the simplicity of it. With bold graphic designs (e.g., your rug), you want to be careful to keep it all pretty simple and not clutter. I might actually go for recessed lighting instead of a chandy (if additional lighting is even needed).

I would add a little bit of an accent color though. Strong and minimal - red or strong yellow. Maybe in a pillow or two and one accessory across the room.

I would not put ottomans under the tables - again thinking of a less cluttered look.

Your room is really great as is, so be careful to not mess with success and resist the temptation to clutter or to add too many "cool" things for the eye to take in. It's got a really nice balance right now and I'm not sure I'd want my eye to travel up to a chandy.

Ok I'm not too sure how sizing works in this instance, Ann might be able to help...what diameter is the fan...do you know....just for ref....so when we look at lights we don't go too small etc.

I'm wondering if you'd consider raising your drapery rod a tad so your drapes just hit the floor rather than puddling? It would require a small amount of wall patching, but not more than a few minutes with spackling and a dab of paint.

I tried to expand the pic as much as possible and can't tell for sure, but the fan looks like a simple and modern style. If so, I think I'd just leave it as is and not replace it with a chandy.

I think I'd prefer a Chandy in the room rather than the fan tbh.

Thank you Ann that makes a lot of sense!! I need some extra lighting as the window faces east and light doesn't shine in as much in the mid afternoon. Recessed lighting sounds like the better choice then.
I'm going to be honest I don't like red so much. So maybe yellow. I love blues and greens. Would any hues along those lines work.. or go more with the yellows

Perfect plan for the drapes and may I ask where you got them? So many dilemmas talk about drapes and how they need to be custom, but yours look (and hang) great!

I'm worried a chandy will look busy. Can you just remove the fan, if you hate it? Or, do you need to hang something in its place? I recently stayed in a condo that had the best looking modern fans. I'm not a big fan of fans (lol), but I think the modern ones are great looking.

OK, so no to red. Based on the color of your accent wall, I think a strong yellow/mustard would be another great option. I like blues and greens but maybe not as much with your accent wall color.

Looking again at the charcoal accent wall, maybe a blue or green could work. You could play with some colors taped on that wall to experiment. But, whatever color you choose, I'd go with a vivid, bold and strong color (not a subdued color) and just a little bit of it.

Any color will work if you dont care for red. Blues, teal, torquoise, greens, yellow etc. with the exception of yellow i would pick a deep saturated color. If you decide on yellow, pastel is nicer than bright imo! Btw, i love your room

I was looking for mustard pillows too. I found one on either West Elm or CB2 that was a solid but with great texture - but it seemed to be sold out in the mustard color. Texture would be nice to add in with pillows (in addition to an accent color).

Our decorative pillows might serve a nice contrast compared to the dark sofa.

i'm not too keen on yellow or mustard but what about these?

What is your favorite color? It goes with black! Every color goes with black....turquoise, lime, orange, lemon, green, robin's egg blue, red, fuschia, lilac. All good choices. Choose one color and repeat it several times: a couple of pillows, a ceramic bowl or vase, a soft throw if you need to be cozy in the evening. Then select a piece of art which incorporates that same color plus others. You could add an accent piece or two in another color found in your selected art.

I'm posting to follow but I like the brass arachnid chandy Linda posted. it's simple clean lines shouldn't compete with your lovely rug!

At this point, I'm thinking (like Ann) that a chandy might be too much in the living area, especially since it appears to be close to the one in the dining area. When you get a chance, can you take a picture from farther back that might show those two areas at once?

I agree with Ann on both the chandy and drapes. If you really don't like the fan, either remove it completely and cap off the ceiling, or get a modern one with a very simple light if you need the extra lighting.

whenever i see acrylic furniture, i think of clear napkin holders and school office boxes and business card holders at the vietnamese nail salons.

seems like a tacky trend that will go out of style.

I was thinking simple like an orchid and smaller terrarium w cacti and then maybe just colorful coasters and a few books..?
But if you think I need an accent piece something like that spikey piece I've looked at before :)

I honestly think you have enough plants/greenery in the room already...,also on your wall unit you have quite a bit of 'smaller' accent items (which do look great).

I just don't think an orchid and books is nice enough for what you have already achieved but that's not to say it wouldn't look 'good'. I just think two statement pieces would take the room to 'wow'. : )

I'm a fan of all of the plants and would welcome more. I think keeping it simple is the way to go. Maybe a set of 3 small succulents in concrete pots on one of the tables or 2 succulents and a candle. These pots come in a set of 3 on Etsy.
