I would get two large framed mirrors in a similar style as the light fixture to go on either side of the buffet to fill the space. Right now the buffet feels very small in scale relative to the size of that wall. They would also make your dining area appear larger. Think, too, about painting that wall with a deeper accent color to give it a little punch, with coordinating drapery panels in a subtle pattern using that same color or color family. The Venetian blinds are dated--perhaps some woven wood shades would give it more texture and interest.

I love the light - it's gorgeous!

It's obviously preference but I wouldn't have all those glasses etc on show - do you prefer to see them? Do you use them a lot?

I like the table decoration but sometimes less is more, I think it needs something as gorgeous as the light. Just one item perhaps.

Were you thinking of art for either side of the buffet? Or battery type sconces maybe?

Should I put to matching pieces on either side? Or is that to matchy, matchy?

Should I move buffet to another wall, and put a large piece of art there, so the dated/cluttered buffet isn't the focal point?

I like abstract art best, and no color, everything in my house is a neutral color.

Hi, if the buffet isn't too heavy and can be moved temporarily, to see how it looks I'd do that and take some pics.

can the glasses etc fit in the enclosed section with just minimal glassware on show? If you don't use all of it each month...can some go into storage?

i am a fan of matching art so it really depends on your preference. If you like abstract do you prefer it framed or canvas type?

You did a great job. I'd either go with flowers or pussy willow in the vases but not both. Too fussy for that beautiful room!

Oh my.....those vases are not working....I would install sconces or wall lights that can flank your art....and help to visually expand the look....I love family art and photos but your family picture would be best hung in a family or living room...take the runner off the table add a large orchid in a silver pot as a centerpiece. Love that you are holding on to family heirloom furniture!

I would also add some stationary drapery panels to your space.

Have you considered turning your dining table lengthwise to run parallel to your window? You could then place your buffet on the short wall adjacent to the window. Drapery panels to puddle on the floor would introduce color and texture. I would pick a color you love and accessorize using it and complimentary colors in dishes, drapes, napkins etc. It looks like the metal trim on the light fixture is bronze. Fuschia or plum would work well. I also think you need more seating for your table size. You could opt for two more chairs one on each end. They could be different than your existing ones. Good luck.
