I see Mr. KO is active on EBAY again, and not too much bidding. Now might be a good time, just don't bid against me. :-)

Saw this boot tray in a catalog I received, thought it looked useful for starting small pots, with the grid to keep plants from sitting in water.

I had my plants in the house for the cold spell, got the usual fungus gnats and red spider mites. I friend has a pest control company and was by for something else, he sprayed for the gnats. Amazing how little amount of product he used, and there were no more gnats. He didn't have anything for the spider mites, so I got some Bayer three in one, I sprayed like a homeowner, totally drenched the plants and the surrounding area. By spraying at two day intervals it seemed to reduce the number of mite a bit. The plants are back outdoors now, and the natural predators are keeping them clean.

When I brought the plants in from the cold I missed three of the two inch seedlings, they stayed outside. The weather bureau said it got down to 35 F, the plants outdoors looked better than the ones indoors, no mites.

Sunny and warm now, everything is coming back to life.

Nice post, Charles. Love the comparison of the outdoor vs indoor culture.

KO auctions remain relatively inactive until the night of ... then BAM! ... sniping left & right. Yup, I think WE are bidding against each other ... LOL. Careful! If you don't know the actual seed prices you can end up paying more at auction than if you'd just clicked on his store and purchased outright. I noticed his prices have recently gone up.

Maria's right. I think most people who bid on his auctions just don't realize he sells seed off of his website. So if the price jumps up, just go there and order directly.

Thanks. It's fun on the auction, and I am not so hung up on any particular variety (yet) just starting some and seeing what I get. If someone were to bid against me that would validate by choice, so I could feel good about that. I looked again, and the ones people have bid on look better than they did before. Too much thinking. :-)

I'm new, just a few dozen seedlings so far.

To Maria, no relatives in that area that I know of.
