Nancy - I prefer the look of tile up to the ceiling vs the partial tile and paint.

Thank you but I was never going to partial tile the walls. I am going up to ceiling with tile but my question is about tiling the shower ceiling as well.

LOL - my apologies Nancy. Since it's not a steam shower, I say no for the ceiling tile.

If the shower is in it's own alcove where the rest of the bathroom has vaulted ceilings, I would just tile the ceiling, it's easy to clean and you don't have to worry about if there ever was mildew build up.

no to tile on the ceiling but consider painting the ceiling the same color of the painted walls. That is what we did, though the pic gives the impression walls are not same color as ceiling, they are.
We have an alcove shower as well with tile to ceiling

Thank you so much for your comments. I was concerned about feeling closed in and it seems like the majority of pictures on Houzz (transitional marble bathrooms) do not have the ceiling tiled unless a steam shower. Certainly gives an open feeling and with frameless glass makes the shower appear to be part of the whole room. Love the idea of painting the ceiling a color but there is other ceiling flowing into that that ceiling so would only work if there was a border separating the areas. Your shower looks terrific typeandrun!

I agree with the consensus, that it would feel closed in with tile on the ceiling. Another thing to consider would be the hassle of cleaning tile on the ceiling. Best of luck!

Never been a strong proponent of tile on ceiling in showers (except for steam showers).
