Does anyone actually live with a kitchen layout like this? I am considering a remodel of my small vacation condo in Palm Springs and one idea I have in mind is to use this layout (with less glamorous, more casual materials) to create a more open feeling. I wonder what the real life pitfalls of such a layout might be? Does it look better than it functions? I usually don't cook anything beyond scrambled eggs so this would work for me, but I also rent my place to snowbirds for a month at a time and they cook more frequently than I do.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
