Maximum distance to link soakers used to be stated on the label as 100 feet. Longer than that doesn't work because they are not pressure-compensated.

I use soakers for veggie beds 4 foot wide. Depending upon what you plant in the bed, you'll need at least 3 runs the length of the bed.

Thank you Jean. If the pressure will only go as far as 100ft, and I have to lay 3 runs the length of the first bed, that's 36 ft, right there. I might get 3 beds done but that would be it. Leaving me with 2 more beds. That seems to be the problem I keep having. It would then require me to connect three beds, then connect the last two by themselves, which is a lot less convenient than I was hoping for. Ideally, I'd like to set the whole vegetable garden on a timer and be done with it in one pass.

It's been suggested I use a pressure regulator, but it leaves me unsure if that will gain me the added distance I need.

I used to have soakers running well over 100 feet. The secret is to turn the water on at the faucet so that it is only trickling out. When I say trickle I mean 1 cup of water per minute maximum. It is literally dripping out at the faucet. Then leave that on for about a week to get it all watered deeply.

Wow, leave it on for a week? [g] Well, I never would have thought of doing that. I mean running the water so slowly. I thought my pressure was not strong enough to reach beyond the 100 ft, but maybe it's supposed to be less strong. I guess I'm just wondering about leaving it running for a week though. I was thinking a whole day, not a whole week. [g]

Thanks Lazy Gardens. Nice photo! So, I think you just answered my question, that if I use the solid hose between each soaker hose, that the water will travel further. I'm going to have to work on that very soon.

You can't have one long line - you need to have the soaker lines "in parallel", each one branching off the solid line, with it ending with just a hose cap, not another soaker hose.

That minimizes the pressure drop.
