Ohhh,shoot. I thought it was something a bit more special. Hard to get them to last much longer then a year here,where its either indoors or indoors in winter.

Now? If it dies I will be blamed that I didnt try hard..oh boy. I'm sure the Plumeria cuttings they also sent are long term-lol. That will help.

It's hard to tell from the picture, are those pseudobulbs under the leaves? If so, then not a phal. Even if it is a phal. the variegation on the leaves make it, at least a little, special.

It looks like your orchid has pseudo bulbs a little like some Dendrobium but different, so no Phal, but what it is difficult to say without blooming,. Maybe from who you got the orchid has a picture of the plant blooming.

Try looking at images of Oeceoclades maculata. The images I can see on google look similar in variegation and shape. It's a terrestrial orchid though.

Meg- I would think it Oeceoclades too. Except he says he pulled it off the trunk of a palm tree he has. Weedy,hardy ( one site says z7 Hardy) sounds like it. But I looked at it and the roots are much more epiphytic than terrestrial looking. Still,looks so much like the "African spotted Orchid"
