Globulosa. Villosa has dark green leaves, even when grown in the same light conditions as globulosa. Both species can have varying degrees of rippling to their leaf margins, as well as varing degrees of pubescence.

Thanks so much aurorawa. I bought it as Globulosa but someone thought it was actually Villosa.. I've been growing it in cooler conditions than my other Hoyas and it's been doing great. I do let this one dry out completely before watering. I guess that's okay because it's doing well.

I thought one way to tell the difference between the two hoyas is that H villosa has a drip-tip at the end of the leaf and H globulosa does not.

I am still not fully convinced that one is not a subspecies of the other. They are so much alike that it confuses me. I do know that I have several "types" of this one (villosa wide/short leaf, sp. WMZ, a really hairy "globulosa", a globluosa with mostly non-wavy (undulating) leaf margins and mostly rounded leaf tips - some have "drip tips", and a really dark leaf villosa that looks exactly like my hairy "globulosa").

I cannot wait until someone is able to do DNA and sort the mess out.

Can you grow Globulosa and Villosa the same? I thought Globulosa likes it cooler and Villosa warmer. Is this true?

Yes let this one dry out as much as you dare. It it gets to wet it will let you know with yellowing of the leaves that will not re-green. And will fall from the plant quickly if it is too wet.
