I am seriously going to have one at our farm, Alamance County, N. C. I found a company that was so responsive to my questions, their rep. from home Co. in Canada CALLED me, explaining there will be a follow-up call and email from the local provider for my area, after I saw their pergolas in an ad on Houzz, emailed them, and I was emailed back but I was so busy moving, I could not even respond! I was called as they were checking back to be sure that I got the downloadable brochure! I love them. THAT is professional business. So cost: 10' x 10' was not bad; I have to look it up. Still mine being 12 ' x 14' perhaps, could be as high as $5,500.00, though I do not know as a professional, but as a consumer. It depends , the cost that is, on a pergola first of all, of the type, materials,if you want the cedar one, as I love in this photo. I want something stable, to create a farmhouse entrance above our stone patio w/ a sidewalk of stone, I would add what this Co. provides, which is an optional retractable solidly attached and w/ choices of fabric as a cover above the pergola; whether it be Sunbrella and/or the light weave of one to allow sun through a bit. They are fitted TO your pergola with a metal system, which is slightly elevated for rain runoff. I would love the self closing feature, for safety reasons of course, it retracts itself for times you are away from home, and an unexpected storm w/ high wind level occurs, or not. Being ready! I would like to have the cedar base, and perhaps add white canopy as a web-light weight cover and a neutral colored Sunbrella top cover that is retractable. Our front porch has metal, white columns that look like wood- they encase the support under the column shell; I would consider doing similar ones to tie in the two outdoor areas we have created, or simply use similar structural supports as seen in the photo here. Home Depot has lower prices with wood pergola

Does Denver have restrictions regarding pergola structures close to buildings? Can it be done with a permit? I really like this look!

What I see in the picture is not native. Red hot pokers/Kniopfia (the yellow flower to the left) is native to South Africa. The purple stuff beyond that could be native, but looks like catmint (native to Europe). I can't identify the pink flower.
