Sorry, I can't give advice on whether to move it out from under the lights or whether to water more as I have no experience with growing under lights as all my adeniums are grown outdoors & I don't want to give you wrong advice. Your plant looks very healthy, so I would just keep doing what you're doing for now. Dont worry, someone with indoor growing experience will give you some advise soon. Rachel :)

John, I would keep in the same situation you have had it in. Flowers color and the number of blooms on it are great. If you can keep it in an area where it will receive good sunlight where it can be enjoyed, then do so. It is obviously performing well where you have it.

Hi Rachel,

Funny you would ask that question as I did buy another plant at the same time potted them up at same time and sit right next to each other under the lights. Also interesting that this other plant was the one I was less worried about as it has had a rock solid caudex from the time I purchased it till now and the one that is blooming had me worried a few times as caudex seemed a bit soft to me at times. I am really happy to have my first adenium bloom but not sure about the plants they both have mottled and distorted leaves so have been wondering if they came with a virus. And Rick thank you for your advise on keeping the blooms and plant happy funny the original photo of this plant was more orange and yellow but it might go through some color changes as the flowers age.

Glad you like it I am pretty happy with it myself. As far as a name it was listed as gold with orange shade center. I have done some poking around and I think it is Sun Halo when I do a google search of adenium sun halo this flower seems very similar. Here is the original photo that was on the ebay listing when I got it.

John, a virus can cause mottled/distorted leaves but also some pests can cause this also. I don't really see a problem with the leaves in the photo. If you could get a close up photo of the leaves you're worried about I'm sure someone else here could advise.

Do you know what colour the flower on the other one is supposed to be??? :)

I will take some closer photos of the mottled leaves and distorted flowers tomorrow. Lol just wanted to love the nice flower opening today. Here is a picture of the other plant that is waking up slowly.

I have found that with newly acquired bare root plants, that their first leaves can be abnormal and grow out of this as they get more. What once the new growth pushes out and they should be true.

I have an Adenium seed Importer in my state (Western Australia) who sells imported seeds from Thailand. I have bought most of my seeds from him. Good germination rate so far. He lists similar flower seeds as your flower bloom, its called " Morning Star".

Lol somehow I think the flowers and the names are getting changed around depending on the who is selling it. Good thing for me is I love the color no mater what it's called.

So here are the photos of the part I am concerned about. this flower opened on the other growing tip yesterday afternoon you can see how the flower and buds are distorted and some leaves are mottled and distorted. I am hoping like Rick said it's just getting itself back to growing but did notice that the first leaves that grew on this branch looked normal.

LOL .. No pressure, John. You can certainly try on day 2, when pollen is plentiful.
