I'm going to chime in, but I am by no means an expert!

i got a ponytail palm from lowes last year on the sale rack. Still haven't repotted it. I water it very sparingly about every week or so. I just take a cup or glass of water and kinda dash some in, lol. I brought it in over the winter and put it in my South facing front window ( no direct sun!) and did the same for watering. It looks as good as the day I bought it.

I will repot it this spring to give it a boost and make it happier. Here it is (I just happened to be sitting on my porch while reading GW).

Here's a funny: when we found it at lowes, husband asked me what it was. I said, I know what it is but can only think of Hairy Palm and I know that's not it. And, he busted out laughing.

They do well in full sun, but you can't move them between sun and shade without giving them some time to acclimatise otherwise they will burn in the sun. Also, indoors behind glass there's no air movement and they'll burn more readily there than outdoors with plenty of air movement around them.

It gets plenty of indirect south facing light & that room has the biggest of all my ceiling fans which are never turned off. plenty of air movement. It's either always on med or hi...I will most likely put outside this summer in the shade...I'm in W. Ma.
