Where do you live? Looks like young tree maby 2 or 3 years old ? About the small figlet's it is normal lives will grow soon .

I live in Tampa, Florida. You're right that the tree is only two years old. So this could be normal?

Do you know what kind of fig it is?

I have no idea. It is a cutting from my father-in law's tree. They called it a "black fig."

Just to make sure, this was previously rooted and leafed out last year? I imagine you did not get any freezing weather this winter, but if you did you keep it on the balcony or bring it indoors? Figs will break dormancy and leaf out when they are ready. I am a bit surprised yours has taken this long, but keep it exposed to the sun and it should wake up.

So did your tree wake up?

No looks dead but roots are still alive. What now?

Not much to do but leave it give it minimal water so soil does not fully get dried out and perhaps look to make another purchase.
