Would like to plant a couple of Ornamental Grasses in Church garden for Easter Service. Looking for suggestions on type, max growth about 4 feet high 2 feet spread and deer resistant. Also how early can I plant them now that we are coming to mid April

Where is this church?

"Zone 7" doesn't help much, because heat and rain are also important.

All the grasses are deer resistant and by your size details, most of the Pennisetums would work as well as Helictotrichon. I assume you will give them full sun.

The Pennisetums are probably my favorite grasses. Just s bit bigger is Calamagrosris 'Karl Foerster' or 'Overdam'. I'm sure they would do well in your climate..
