I went back to the shop and I noticed that they have updated the labels. It is "Banana Plant - Musa Basjoo". Btw. if it's a dwarf banana whats the max height it can achieve?

I grow quite a few myself, though I am no expert. Dwarf cavendish is the most commonly sold dwarf banana in a lot of places. In a good size pot they reach 5-7 feet of stem not including the leaves.

No clue what zone I'm in... I live in Ipswich in UK.

P|anted out basjoo achieves 7 feet of p-stem and the leaves will be about seven feet in length. This is in SW Ontario, YMMV in damp cool England.

It might grow a bit slower but you can save a good chunk of the p-stem each winter as long as doesn't go much below freezing (planted in the ground). Maybe someone who lives in a closer zone will stop by.

I don't think that is Musa basjoo (Japanese Fiber banana); I think is't a Dwarf Cavindish banana (but may be wrong). There are great for suckering but not as cold hardy as basjoo. Leaves on the basjoo are different from the one in you picture but difficult to tell from a picture (leaves actually feel different by touch).

sebsz, please post another pic when the new leaves come out. We will know soon enough.

Photos of the newest leave below. Behind it, a smaller musa basjoo via eBay and both look pretty much the same... in my opinion.

It's looking much more like a cavendish. Notice the whitish powdery stuff on the new leaf unrolling.
