I think you're right. Does it have a fragrance? Were you able to get some of your Great Grandmother's plants and put them in your yard? That would be a wonderful legacy :-))))

It does have a fragrance. I have found a relative who will share some bulbs with me ( They will remain far away from my other hippies and in a screened in setting that is not going to experience rain splashing about and potential contamination in that way). I am also asking her to collect some pollen. I will certainly share that pollen if any members who are interested in that. Hopefully, there will be some seed pods ripe by the time I leaver. I remember seeing seed pods as a child, but I cannot remember if they were round or just the remnants after blooming. I assume xjohsonii is self fertile? If I can acquire seeds, I will certainly share those as well. I know that xjohnsonii is nothing exceedingly rare, but I want to cross that pollen with every cultivar or species I collect. It's a way to blend my interests with her memory.

Hi, I agreed with Fred. They appear to be the Johnsonii variety. They look identical to the ones I have planted. Only 2 of my 4 produced flowers this year and all the seed pods withered away. Hope you have better luck with yours.

I've never had a pod on my H.xJohnsonii. I crossed it with H. Papilio this year and have a pod.
