The Nexus seems more traditional, and I think that the Shaker is more common, and can fit into many types of homes from traditional to transitional to modern. What are you more drawn to?

I would agree with Lisa G that the Nexus is more a traditional style, and perhaps that what you have elsewhere in your home?Even though your oak floors sound light in colour, perhaps consider staying in the whites, for countertops. I'm going only by the little info that you gave, I think that a dark contrast is very chic, but just make sure it isn't too dark in there!

Personally, I prefer the nexus style. The cabinet style offers a little more interest in my opinion and is equally modern looking.

I also like the Nexus style better--the detailing in the recessed panel is more attractive. The other is too plain for my taste.

I would look at the entire home and see where the lines of the design are going. straight , curve, arched etc. It is really easy to get too many deisgn elements going and confuse the brain. Think simple lil black dress. I look at it like , the more your are excited about it now, the sooner you will tire of it. This wall took a long time to put together , the idea of contemporary and santa barbara and get a harmony in blending. Your cabinet choice isnt as drastic perhaps, however having a overall game plan and "big" picture ..may help.

brand new house. i prefer to not refer to them as shaker but craftsman or better yet Santa Barbara :)
