The black is the nectar. This one is just as bad as kerrii, in regards to nectar messes.

My kerrii's must be broken. They had little orange nectar beads but none dripped at all anywhere...

I read somewhere that the color of the sap depends on how much sun/heat it gets. I'm guessing that pertains to certain hoyas, because my carnosa and pink silver that are out in the sun drip clear sap.

I was wondering if the sap has more of a tendency to drip if the humidity is is high and conversely less so if it is dry.

Wow, that flower is gorgeous! It's amazing that the black nectar is so uniform on all the flowers. It's just stunning. I can totally see why you'd want a cutting Kinco.

Heat and sun play a role in how flower color comes about at blooming in some species, I think. But with Pubicalyx RHP at least and I'm thinking meliflua too, genes play a large role. I have 2 RHPs side by side, they both get the same light/heat. One blooms in blotches of red and purple on corona and corolla (see my profile pic) and the other blooms standard dark red corona and dark purple corolla throughout.
