Trim off any dead with cleaned clippers.

Do I see a branch in the last picture which starts off bottom right then comes back to cross center? If I see it correctly I'd probably prune that one also.

Yes, that branch (the lowest one that grows out of the main trunk - lowest on right) grows up and then loops back over itself. So its a pretty big branch considering the overall size of this tree.

Here it is traced in Paint (little branches growing off of it it as well)

So I cut the tip to about 1/4 inch below the browning and this branch has continued to turn brown. What else can you suggest I do or look for?

They say you should prune just above the buds. If you cut below the buds, it will die back to the next buds down the branch.

BTW I would not be so hasty cutting off that crooked branch. Oddities like that can be what gives a tree one-of-a-kind character. So I would probably let it be for now, unless it's clearly going to cause some damage.
