A well sealed floor should be fairly resistant to any accidents. The sealer will likely need to be refreshed more frequently due to scuff marks from claws, and as insurance to maintain the protection in high traffic zones. Would strongly advise speaking with a specialty concrete finisher for their advice as well.

Proper sealer prevents damage- I prefer an epoxy top coat.

Probably the best thing for pets. Easy to vacuum up and wipe up spills and messes. Just hard on the humans feet and legs.

I have the stained concrete floor in one of my bedrooms. it was sealed with a top coat. A sealer meant for concrete. it's fine with pet messes.

I asked the concrete guy about Epoxy and he said that it was a lot more expensive and also that if there is moisture under the concrete that the product would pull-up, And we would not know that until it happens.

I had about 180 sq foot room done. he had to do a concrete overlay because the slab had a lot of cracks and some damage. then he applied the acid etching solution. after that dried, he did the topcoat sealer ( which I did not like because it shows the roll marks from the desk chair). The cost was 1k.

are you talking about regular, poured concrete? if not sealed, can stain. I suppose if you're in a cold area, the floors would be cold in the winter. will naturally get small cracks.

Other than that, it's pretty easy to care for. inexpensive. you can paint it if you tire of the natural color.

Concrete tiles are similar and most assuredly need to be sealed. they shouldn't crack and you won't paint them.

I was thinking polished concrete with radiant heating. We are currently building in Colorado. I'm trying to get away from grout.

I don't see an issue w/it. as I've said, concrete is porous and will stain, so make sure you use a high quality sealer. I'd also make sure the radiant heat product is the best, being that if something goes haywire, you're screwed.

I'd acid etch it and do a cool color. I've got that done in one of my bedrooms. did a turquoise shade.

A little over the top! Wow! That is unreal! Must have cost a bundle. I love stained concrete and acid wash treatments. You can get some amazing looks. Did a home and in the mud room, home planning area, and laundry, did all stained and sealed concrete with a patina copper look. It was beautiful and a breeze to care for.
